- See our Self guided walking holidays and for information on the Caithness & Sutherland Walking Festival takes place in May. We have developed a number of walking routes in the area, copies of which are available in the cottage, at the B&B and on the camp site. Join us for a few days, and enjoy some great walks. There are also guided walks with the Ranger Service on a regular basis throughout the summer.
- Dunnet Head is a great place for bird watching - puffins visit from May to September, guillemots, razorbills, fulmar and skua are just some of the birds you will see.
- seals, whales, otters and foxes are just some of the wildlife you will see at Dunnet Head.
- for brown trout in the Dunnet Head lochs and on St. John's loch is a great pastime. We can give guidance on permits and local contacts.
- we have two mountain bikes for rental when you stay with us - there are some great places to cycle, and the roads are very quiet.
- tents only - a great site overlooking the Pentland Firth, Brough Bay and rock stacks where there is a resident seal colony.
- you can rent our caravan - crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils provided. Bring your own sleeping bag or rent bed linen from us. Magnificent views over the Pentland Firth, barbecue in the garden or on the beach and enjoy the big skies.
- you can moor your boat in Brough Bay and do some great sailing / fishing on the Pentland Firth. There is also a boat park. Kayaking is becoming popular in the area, and Brough Bay is a great place to launch your kayak and explore the coves around Dunnet Head. Only experienced kayakers should try this, as the currents are very label.
- there are golf courses at Thurso (14 miles), Wick (20 miles) and Reay (21 miles).
- The Dunnet Head Educational Trust is a registered Scottish charity and was formed in 2003 to promote Dunnet Head and its immediate environs. A DVD and guide book about the area is available from the web site.
